Guidelines & Expectations

Thank you for choosing Picaflor Yoga for your prenatal yoga journey. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and personalized experience in the comfort of your home. The following guidelines help ensure that each session is conducted safely and professionally, providing the best experience for both the client and the instructor.

Medical Clearance
& Communication

  • Clients are responsible for obtaining approval from their healthcare provider before beginning prenatal yoga.

  • By participating, you confirm that you have discussed physical activity with your healthcare provider and have been cleared to participate in prenatal yoga.

  • You agree to inform your instructor of any medical conditions, pregnancy-related concerns, restrictions, complications, or changes in your health that may affect your practice. This includes, but is not limited to:

    • High-risk pregnancy

    • Placenta previa

    • Gestational hypertension or preeclampsia

    • Gestational diabetes

    • Bleeding or fluid leakage

    • Recent hospitalization

    • Significant pain, dizziness, or contractions

    • Any new recommendations from your healthcare provider

  • It is your responsibility to provide updates before each session if your health status changes.

Required Forms

Before your first session, all clients must complete and sign the required documents, including:

  • Client Intake Form

  • Health History Questionnaire

  • Prenatal Yoga Informed Consent

  • Liability Waiver and Release of Claims

Sessions cannot begin until all required forms have been completed and signed.

Preparing Your
Practice Space

Please provide a clean, safe, and relatively quiet space for your yoga session.

The practice area should:

  • Allow enough room to comfortably move around your yoga mat.

  • Be free of clutter, obstacles, or tripping hazards.

  • Provide a calm environment with minimal interruptions.

  • Offer reasonable privacy, whether indoors or outdoors.

  • Have a comfortable temperature and adequate ventilation when possible.

Household
Members & Pets

Please notify your instructor before your appointment if anyone else will be present during the session, including:

  • Partners or family members

  • Children

  • House guests

  • Contractors or service workers

  • Pets

For everyone's safety, pets should be secured if they may interfere with the practice, and young children should be supervised by another adult whenever possible.

Client Responsibilities

Clients agree to:

  • Listen to their body and practice within their comfort level.

  • Stop any movement that causes pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, bleeding, contractions, or discomfort.

  • Communicate immediately if they experience any unusual symptoms during class.

  • Stay hydrated before, during, and after practice.

  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows for unrestricted movement.

  • Have any recommended props available if requested before class.

Instructor Responsibilities

Your instructor will:

  • Provide a prenatal yoga practice appropriate for your stage of pregnancy and individual needs.

  • Offer modifications and options throughout the practice.

  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

  • Respect your comfort level and encourage you to practice at your own pace.

  • Arrive prepared with agreed-upon equipment and props.

Safety

Yoga is intended to support wellness during pregnancy but is not a substitute for medical care or saftey.

  • If at any point during our session you feel physically or emotionally uncomfortable, unsafe, or simply do not wish to continue, you have the right to pause or end the session without judgment. Your comfort and well-being always come first.

  • As your instructor, I also reserve the right to pause, modify, or end a session if I observe signs that continuing may not be in your best interest, if I become concerned about your safety, or if I feel unwell or unable to safely provide instruction. This decision will always be made with your health and safety as the priority.

  • If I become ill before or during a scheduled session, or if unforeseen circumstances prevent me from safely teaching, the session will be canceled, rescheduled, or refunded as appropriate.

  • Please inform me immediately if there are any changes to your pregnancy, health status, medications, activity restrictions, or recommendations from your healthcare provider before our next session.

  • You agree to participate at your own pace and will never be encouraged to perform any movement that feels painful, unsafe, or beyond your current comfort level. Modifications and rest are always encouraged.

  • You understand that you may choose to skip any pose, take breaks, or ask questions at any time during the session. There is never an expectation to keep up or push through discomfort.

  • In the event of an emergency, I may recommend ending the session immediately and seeking appropriate medical care. If emergency services are needed, I will contact them promptly.

Scheduling & Cancellations

Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to the full session fee, except in cases of labor, medical emergencies, or other pregnancy-related circumstances.

If your instructor must cancel due to illness, emergency, or unsafe travel conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule your session promptly.

Home Environment

For the safety and professionalism of each visit:

  • The home should provide a safe environment for instruction.

  • Please disclose any potential hazards before the instructor arrives.

  • The instructor reserves the right to end or decline a session if the environment is deemed unsafe or inappropriate.

Respect & Professionalism

Picaflor Yoga is committed to creating an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment for every client. Mutual respect, open communication, and professional conduct are expected throughout our time together.

Thank you for helping create a safe and supportive space for your prenatal yoga practice. I look forward to being part of your pregnancy journey.
